Enjoying life.

Posted in Hearts by dawninosaka on November 7, 2009

Wow. I’m totally confused by the new layout of the dashboard, within 2 months wordpress has revamped by leaps and bounds. Almost couldn’t locate the new post button. So what’s been going on?

Mostly lab. A visit from someone special :D Growing lifegps. Going out with friends. And buying the flights home! Yipee!!! The last time I felt as productive as now, was probably back in JC2. Being busy has taught me the importance of finding time to rest. On this quiet Sat night, I’m just staying in to type on this blog and enjoy doing stuff. Eg. Surfing aimlessly, youtubing, updating this blog, looking at pictures. Busy-ness is a part of urban life and along the way, busy-ness loses its meaning. What am I busy for? But when I take a step back to appreciate and enjoy the things around me; the changing colours of the leaves, the flowers, the cloudless blue skies, I get reminded for Who I work for and why. Busy-ness loses its routine. Still, I welcome a break in Feb, back to devour all the good food and enjoy good company!!

:D

IF you only had 5 days..

Posted in Uncategorized by dawninosaka on September 5, 2009

If I only had 5 days back in Singapore, what would I do?? Who would I spend my time with?

What would I spend my time doing? Apparently, this dilemma has been postponed by fully booked flights.

Went on an all expenses paid conference to Mt Rokko 7 stations away from home. If Yuki had not been strongly recommending this I guess I wouldn’t have went. Really enjoyed myself, the view of Kobe from Mt Rokko at night was breath-taking, great company and really stimulating conversations (scientific and non-scientific)! There was 2 hrs of free time and I went to the Music Box Museum, was a tad disappointed that I didn’t get to make my own music box :( The pictures below are all music boxes. The largest one is 2 stories tall! :S Talk about big entertainment.

Will be back there in Dec to check out the artificial ski slope :p

Osaka has no beaches and the nicest one happens to be 3-4hrs away by bus. I’m back with a tan and lots of mosquito bites. Overall, I wish we could have stayed longer…

I think I have fallen in love with Starbucks.

Posted in Random by dawninosaka on July 15, 2009

The trouble with blogging is forgetting about what you want to blog. On this rare occasion, I am so impressed that I remembered!! Went to get a gift at Starbucks for Germ’s birthday and guess what?? This is what I got.

And while waiting for it to be wrapped, they served me a shot of free coffee!! Though I would have been happier if they gave me a sample of the lemon matcha frappacino. They sure know how to make me feel at home. Explains why I am so jitterrry about blogging this, high on coffee :D I wonder if they do that in Singapore though?? When it comes to service, be it at work, in school, in church, etc… Go the extra mile!

Went on a 2 day trip to Nagasaki with the lab last week. It cost me an arm and a leg, but it was good. We stayed at a resort modeled after a pretty Dutch town. Checked out all the attractions in the resort within a day, had a really good buffet dinner. Really think that my taste buds are spoiled by all the good food here. Though there is the not so delicious food from the school cafeteria. Forgot to take pictures of the buffet spread. Unpardonable I know. But, I did some justice by taking photos of some famous places in Nagasaki, namely Oura Cathedral, Glover Garden and the Spectacle Bridge.

Harlow. I am still alivveee!!

Posted in Short by dawninosaka on June 23, 2009

I’m sorry for the lack of updates. I won’t be updating much until my lessons are over on the 30th of June. Glad to say that I am getting used to waking up early nowadays and sleeping late :S But I am still pretty alive compared to times when I got more sleep. Though I think Wanz must be shaking her head reading this. Hehehee. She’s the one who witnesses all my unglam sleep-in-the-bus/train moments. But really, thank God :D The last few months have been really exciting!!

New lifegroup, friends, classmates,  perspectives and beginnings. Church has really been getting better and better, I can’t help but feel excited for every Sunday :D Becoz I see lives changed every week. And.. I dissected my first human. O_o So awed by God’s design. Everything is so defined and structured, it’s hard unbelievable that the human body originated from a mish mash of cells. Went to the onsen for the first time too… More naked bodies, this time all alive though.

And I did like to tell everyone that I MISS you all lots. And how I wish you all were here to witness all the wonderful things happening in Osaka.

It can’t be coincidence

Posted in Japan by dawninosaka on May 28, 2009

With all the reports going on, I’m sure most people must know that Japan having the swine flu epidemic. Over 300 people are now infected, but no one has died yet and most are recovering :D Still, I hope I stay healthy, not just for my own sake, but for everyone that I come in contact with often. Deep down, I know I’ll be ok. Because God said so. No matter what happens, He’s got me.
Read that Singapore has the first swine flu infection. From the perspective of someone who lives and studies in epidemic hotspots, believe me when I say DON’T PANIC. Yups, i’m doing fine.
