The wisdom of teeth

The ~~pains~~ joys of having your wisdom tooth out.

Visited the dentist last month because I had some infection around my lower wisdom teeth. After taking X-rays and all, they advised me to remove them. Because… The teeth were laying horizontal, so best to have them out

So I extracted the first one yesterday. They gave me local anesthesia, sliced open my gum and started drilling to break my gigantic tooth apart. It took them an hour or so, and during which I thought it would never be over because it went drill and cracking of teeth repeatedly. Best part was my dentist was complaining to me that my teeth was gigantic and will take awhile. It felt really tiring, the drilling wasn’t exactly painless, it was sore… And the worse was when it hit the nerve. I’m not looking forward on getting the next one out. Thank God the upper ones are out nicely.

After which they made me go downstairs to take x-rays of the area. I felt bad for the radiologist, coz I was drooling all over his fingers while he inserted some film in my mouth.. Anyways, seems like the tooth is near the nerve. So they were concerned about nerve damage. Thank God that other than the expected swelling, I can still feel my right cheek So most likely there’s no nerve damage. So I look like a hamster with lots of food in its cheeks now, except mine is only on the right-side and filled with fluid. Super sore and uncomfortable!!!!!

As much as I like to extract the other tooth asap in Japan, there’s too many things for me to deal with relocating, graduating, a wedding and farewells. So, the other tooth (lucky u) will be left alone till I get back to SG.

Fungus? Or frozen oil??

Was pretty grossed out when I saw unidentified clumps in my bottle of jojoba oil which I apply on my FACE. Thankfully my worse fears were not confirmed. It’s not fungus growing in the oil, but my room was so cold that it froze….. Coldest winter in Japan yet.

What’s up Lab Rat?

Well… Quite alot. Haha. Which explains my absence on cyberspace. Namely trying to move on with my research, some experiments stubbornly fail to work and thanking God for those that work. Speaking of which, I have a question. How long do you spend at work? On the average, I spend 8 hours working (or more), 3 hours commuting, 6-8 hrs sleeping and 5 hours doing other stuff. E.g. Eating, bathing, QT, facebooking, etc… Do I think I don’t work hard enough? Sometimes.

Yes. I am graduating in 6 month’s time… And I have emanating stress lines. I want to wrap things up properly!!! Still! I know God is with me and will make sure I go somewhere awesome. Jeremiah29:11

On a more relaxing note, I caught some fireworks last weekend. Wore my yukata for the first and the last time this year. Looking forward to my friend coming over from Shanghai to visit DD and spending some time in Singapore DD And of course, life changing events in Jesus DD

The Best Advice I Ever Received

Among the many pieces of good advice given to me, I would like to write about the one I remember the best. Probably because it seems to me like the best advice that I’ve had recently.

Which is… “People will forget what you say, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou (especially if you made them feel really good or really bad)

I guess I have done both. There are some people I’ve made feel really good about themselves and these are people are still talking to me. And I suppose I don’t have to say what happened to those people whom I’ve made feel not so great. Still… There’s always this wish to rewind time and go back to rectify mistakes. But you know life doesn’t work this way.

We just move on and do our best to make someone feel great!
